I started my Birth career doing Birth photography. I photographed many births in Vanderhoof and Prince George capturing moms/families labouring, delivering and bonding with their new babies.
Standing off to the sidelines was hard as i have SO much knowledge on birth. Watching moms in pain and wanting to offer a comfort technique, emotional support or even massage. I took my doula course with : Doula Canada and shortly after became a certified doula. The timing was perfect as due to the world wide pandemic I would not be allowed in the hospital as a birth photographer but as a doula I am allowed.
It is hard being on call with two young children at home but I really do love it. I love being there for moms, supporting families, relieving pain and witnessing those first moments.
